Creamier and more flavorful than a typical lasagna, you’ll want to share this one with everyone!Don’t let the spices scare you! Spices are so flavorful and provide many beneficial antioxidants to protect against all kinds of diseases. Plus, they are virtually Calorie free. Why wouldn’t you Spice It Up?!?! Remember, if your spices are more than 6 months old, they will have lost some of their potency, and you may need to use more than the recipe calls for. They do lose their antioxidant power over time also, so keep them fresh!
Perfect for a large group! Makes 12 Servings.
½ lb italian turkey sausage, ground
½ onion, finely chopped
1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
16 oz cream cheese
½ cup 2 % milk
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup parmesan cheese, grated
24 oz spaghetti sauce, I like the garlic flavored (1 jar)
½ tsp dried oregano
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp dried basil
¼- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
12 lasagna noodles, cooked according to directions
1.Complete prep work: chopping onion and peppers and cooking lasagna noodles. 2. Preheat oven to 350 F 3. Brown sausage with onion and peppers. 4. Add spices oregano, garlic powder, and basil and add the spaghetti sauce. 5. Meanwhile, whip cream cheese with milk until smooth (about 4-5 minutes). 6. Mix mozzarella cheese with parmesan cheese in a medium mixing bowl. Reserve 1 ½ cup cheese mixture and add the rest to the cream cheese. Mix well. 7. Layer spaghetti sauce and sausage mixture, then lasagna noodles (3 each layer), then cheese mixture. Repeat x 3. 8. Add extra reserved cheese and cheddar cheese on the top. 9. Bake at 350 F, covered for 45 minutes. Bake uncovered an additional 10-15 minutes. ENJOY!

You can use skim or 1% milk also, the calories listed here are in reference to 2% milk.
You can use ready to bake lasagna noodles, but if you do, add ½ cup water to the spaghetti sauce mixture.
You may also use fresh minced garlic. 1 clove is equal to 1/8 tsp garlic powder, so you will need 4 cloves for this recipe.
You can also try whole grain noodles or gluten free noodles depending on your preferences.
